Who are we?
Ormskirk Writers & Literary Society was founded in 1963. We are a mixed group of novice and experienced writers, who write in a variety of styles and forms, poetry, fiction and articles.At present we have about 20 members of varying ages.
Where to find us;
The club meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at the library of Ormskirk School, Wigan Road, Ormskirk, from 7.30 to 9.30 pm. Informal house meetings are held on intervening Tuesdays as and when members are able to offer their homes for the night. Details of these are given out at club meetings.
What do we do? The club holds regular informal readings of members writing. We also have evenings for workshops, speakers and club competitions. We pride ourselves on offering friendly support and advice. We keep a large folder of market guidelines for those aiming at publication and we also collect entry forms for competitions. We also hold our own international annual competition, known as the Jo Cowell Award in memory of one of our founder members.
